Six UAE Business Setup Costs the Headline Price Leaves Out
When people ask me why our estimates look higher than the ads they have seen, the answer is simple: we are quoting a company, not a licence. Here is what commonly sits outside that eye-catching headline figure.
The six costs to budget for
- Immigration establishment card. Before you can sponsor a single visa, the company needs its immigration file opened.
- Residence visas. Investor or employee, each has its own cost, and most founders need at least one.
- Emirates ID and medical. Per person, every time.
- Office or flexi-desk, plus Ejari. Free zones offer a desk. Mainland activities usually need a real tenancy, registered.
- Activity approvals. A consultancy needs none. A restaurant needs Food Control and Civil Defence. Engineering needs Municipality and Society of Engineers sign-off. These vary hugely.
- Bank account and tax registration. The steps that let you actually invoice and stay compliant.
Why this matters
None of this is hidden by anyone in bad faith. It is just that a single number cannot hold all of it, so it usually holds the smallest part. The problem is that the missing pieces are exactly the ones that catch people out after they have paid.
